Our Community

At St. Francis de Sales, we offer a rich and rewarding school life that benefits students, parents and faculty. Many special programs and clubs exist for the students, as well as ways for our school parents, to become involved. We are blessed with a high level of engagement from many parents, leading to a strong sense of community among students and families. This is evident from the first time a family joins us and is paired with a current SFS family in our New Family program.

Leadership opportunities for parents arise regularly with SFS’ three school boards -- School Board, PTO, and Athletic Board. Special programs and fundraisers offer parents the chances to coordinate activities as well as volunteer. Additionally, students have several clubs and after-school activities run by the faculty that provide an enriching atmosphere that supplements their day-to-day school work.

Parents enjoy being part of their child's experience at SFS. Beginning with 4th grade, boys and girls can start participating in athletics, such as parent-coached basketball and volleyball teams. Team competition provides another way for parents to get to know their child’s classmates and their families. So too does the annual school play, supporting teachers as room parents with seasonal parties or as a volunteer on a special project, or raising money for SFS through fun events like Bingo, movie night or a parent night out. Soon enough, faces start to be familiar at morning drop-off, Sunday Mass, and in between, making the SFS community feel like family. Building these relationships also allows SFS families to lean on one another during difficult times. In fact, SFS now has a Caring Hands ministry and prayer group to offer support to fellow families in need.
