Clubs

In conjunction with our academic program, St. Francis de Sales provides the opportunity for students to participate in many, varied extracurricular activities, including:

Art Club
Art Club is offered to 3rd-5th students and meets once per week after school with our Art teacher, Mr. Remington. Students work on collaborative art projects, service art projects, and create an annual Christmas card.

Band

Students in grades 4-8 are invited to participate in the St. Francis Catholic School Band. The program includes two group lessons per week, each lasting 30-45 minutes. Instruments include the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion (bells & snare). Music Education Services has partnered with Music & Arts to provide parents an optional rent-to-own instrument program. The St. Francis Band joins musicians from four other area Catholic elementary schools and performs three major concerts annually. All students are also encouraged to participate in solo & ensemble festivals. Top achieving students also have the opportunity to audition and participate in a special Honor Band in April.

Service Art Club
Service Art Club is offered to 6th-8th grade students and meets once per week after school with our art teacher, Mr. Remington. Students work on various art service projects that give back to the school community, including the sets and props for the school play.

National Junior Honor Society
Middle school students are eligible for the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). NJHS elevates a school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Our St. Francis chapter affirms our commitment not only to student achievement but also to community engagement. Mr. Walker and Mrs. Goduto lead our NJHS effort.

Science Club
In order for young and inquisitive students to experience hands-on scientific concepts, 2nd and 3rd graders meet monthly for approximately half of the school year to conduct experiments focused on chemistry, physics, biology and engineering concepts. Past experiments include making slime, building a popsicle stick catapult, and designing a landing pad for dropping a raw egg. Miss Cortese serves as Science Club moderator.

Student Council
Students in 5th-8th grade participate in Student Council elections and represent their classes through the school. Student Council performs various service projects throughout the year, including face painting for Spirit Day, supporting Red Ribbon Week promotion and coordinating the Christmas Toy Drive. Mrs. Salit and Mrs. Sprinkle are our faculty sponsors for the Student Council.

Scholastic Bowl
Comprised of students in 7th and 8th grade, the Scholastic Bowl Teams compete in matches in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from various knowledge areas, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more.
