Create a Digital Citizenship Video for your 1st Grade Buddies

Review the 4 videos below geared for Kindergarten - 2nd graders and create a list of the key messages shared.

Using your list as a starting point, pick 5 age appropriate rules to remind 1st graders to be safe, respectful and responsible online.

Use iMovie or WeVideo to create a 1:00 - 2:00 minute video that teaches your 5 rules.
Use text, images and sound (voice over and/or music). Your video must use language appropriate for 1st graders.

Remember to upload your final video into Google Drive so that you can attach it in Google Classroom and turn it in.

WeVideo: If you would like a refresher on using WeVideo, I've attached a video below. You created accounts on WeVideo last year for an assignment, so you should be able to log in using your Google Accounts.

Each quarter Middle School students must complete 30 minutes of timed tying tests on www.typing.com.

Students must earn at least 15 WPM or higher and an accuracy of 95% or higher for the test to count towards your 30 minutes.

Students should strive to be within these ranges or higher by the end of the year.
Goals:
6th grade - 25-35 WPM
7th grade - 30-40 WPM
8th grade: 35-45 WPM

If you forgot your typing.com account and have been logging in using your school Google Account, you need to add that account to my class in typing.com so I can see your progress. Log into typing.com, in the upper right hand corner, click on your name and go to Account Settings. Then scroll down to join a class. For the class code, enter sfstechnology and click join. Then I should be able to see your work.

Design Challenge

Create a solution to safely deliver meals or supplies to the elderly or sick while we practice social distancing.

We will use the 4 Steps in the Problem Solving Process: Define, Prepare, Try and Reflect
Define: Understand the problem and the requirements
Prepare: brainstorm ideas and create a Design for a solution
Try: build a model using items available around the house- paper, cardboard boxes, items from recycling bin, clay/play doh, fabric, scissors, tape, glue, yarn, etc.
Reflect: What would you change or do differently? What do think worked well in the build? What did you have trouble with?

Complete the attached Design document. Including your brainstorming and then your design. Include a drawing of your solution and then using materials from around the house, build out a model or prototype of your solution and include pictures or quick video of your model.

Lesson 14: Finalize the Styling on Your Websites

You've learned ways to add style to your websites for both text and non text elements. This week in Lesson 14 you will add the finishing touches to your websites. The style and formatting of your website will be graded based on the attached rubric.

Your website must have:
- Style and formatting rules defined in at least 1 cascading stylesheet (.css file)(2 pts)
- Stylesheets are linked to html pages via the link tag in your index.html file and all other .html files (2 pts)
- At least 1 color is specified using the RGB value and displayed somewhere on the website (2 pts)
- Text styled with CSS (e.g. font-size, font-family, text-decoration, text-align). At least 2 rules are defined for each of at least 2 text elements (headings and/or paragraphs). (2 pts)
- Layout styled with CSS for non-text elements (e.g., borders, images, backgrounds). At least 2 of these properties (e.g. height, width, border-radius, border-style with border-width >0, float, margin) are used on your site and visible. (2 pts)

We will start with a Google Meet at 10:40 am on Tuesday. I will explain the peer review. Then, I will stay on the call to help those who still need help finishing their websites.

You are going to peer review the content of your classmates' websites today.
We are moving on to formatting & Lesson 10 on Thursday. So please finish up, if you have not done so!

1. Please share your website with your partner.
Go to Lesson 9, level 12. Click Share in the upper left corner. Copy the link and paste it as a class comment to this assignment with your name.

2. Please use the attached rubric to peer review your assigned partner's website. List your name as Reviewer and their name as creator on the Name line.
For each row, check to see if your partner's website meets all the requirements listed. If yes, mark yes in column 2. if not, indicate no in column 2 and please leave a comment explaining what you think they are missing in column 3.
Please check spelling as well.

3. Before turning in your peer review, please share your completed peer review with the person you reviewed so they can make changes. All changes to the websites are due by next Thursday, April 16th.

Your group will be assigned to peer review another group/individual.
Each person on your team must complete a peer review form for a person on the other team. Every person must receive a peer review

When being reviewed:
1. Fill out the first part of your form.
2. Share your form with the person evaluating you.
3. After the evaluation, complete all the reflection questions on page 2.

When Reviewing
1. Open the form of the person you are evaluating.
2. List your name as Reviewer's name
3. Listen to the person/group explain their app.
4. Assess based on the 4 areas:
- problem defined
- app addresses/fixes the problem
- all the necessary input and output are listed
- the group discusses how the app processes the information and what information is stored in the app
In the comments, describe how they met the criteria, or list what was missing.
