Letter to Mr. Schmitt in Google Classroom

Letter to Mr. Schmitt

Good Morning!

It is tradition that each 8th grade student write a letter of thanks to our principal for his service to you and the SFS community. As with Father Ryan's letter, this letter should be one of the best letters that you have ever written, too. It should be from the heart and contain reasons why you are thankful for Mr. Schmitt. You might want to mention any positive interactions that he had with you, whether that included sporting events, school classes, discipline, and/or extracurricular activities/clubs. If you did not have any personal interaction with Mr. Schmitt, your letter can focus on how you feel he has helped SFS since he has been here, one of which was our second Blue Ribbon School designation.

Your letter should be written in 12 point font. Remember to include a date at the top, a greeting (Dear Mr. Schmitt,), the body of your letter, a salutation (Sincerely, Truly, Love, From) and your full name below the salutation. Before turning it in, make sure that you have spelled everything correctly and that your grammar and punctuation is free of any errors. This letter is due on Monday at 3:00 pm. Mrs. Salit and I will be compiling all the letters from the 8th grade class and will present them to Mr. Schmitt at the end of the semester.

Thursday's E-Learning Assignment in Google Classroom

Thursday's E-Learning Assignment

Good Morning,

Today, please read your Bible for 20 minutes and find a passage within Sirach, a Book in the Old Testament, that "speaks" to you.
Write the name of the Book in the Bible, the Chapter and Verse(s) on a Google Doc, and explain why that particular verse comforts you/brings you peace/or makes sense. For example, one of my favorite passages in the Bible is from Sirach 6:32-37. It reminds me to listen to others so that I may continue to grow in wisdom. It also encourages me to stay disciplined in my work and follow Jesus' commandments so that I may become enlightened when helping others.
This assignment is due by 3:00 pm today.

Enjoy reading!

Due:

Wednesday's E-Learning Service Project in Google Classroom

Wednesday's E-Learning Service Project

Good Morning,

We all need a little help from one another, so today that is what we can offer each other.

I would like you to pick an activity that shows how you can serve others during this day.
You must be able to document this with pictures.
Some examples could include: writing a letter to your relative who doesn't live near you asking
them to tell you stories about their life and sharing information about yourself; making/helping
to make lunch for others in your family; preparing a dessert (ex: cookies, brownies, etc.) for your family;
washing a sink full of dishes; washing floors; washing walls for Spring cleaning; or any other worthy/
helpful action. If you have another idea, please get it approved by me before you do it.

Once you have chosen your service project, take an initial picture of the activity: the name and address
of the person you are sending the letter to; ingredients (bread; flour; chocolate chips) for lunch or dessert that you will make;
pictures of the dirty dishes/walls.

Then, take a picture of you doing the activity: writing the letter; making the lunch or dessert; washing the dishes or walls.

Finally, take a picture of the completed activity: finished letter; lunch spread; baked dessert; clean sink/walls.

Attach these pictures with your Google Doc explaining the process you went through, how it made you feel and anyone's
comments about your activity, if stated. It is due by 3:00 pm.

Enjoy serving others!
