Due:

Review of Cardinal and Intermediate Directions in Google Classroom

Review of Cardinal and Intermediate Directions

Good Morning,

As I read your descriptions/journeys across the Americas, I noted some common issues that need to be addressed.
Many of you need to review cardinal and intermediate directions. I will give several examples here and
then you will respond to the prompt below and turn in your understanding of where one location in the American
civilizations that we studied is located in relation to another.

If I record a

+ and then create an x, I might want to know how to travel from the + to the x.

So, I would state that the x is east of the +, or in other words, if I began at the +, I would need to travel east to get to the x. Please note that when looking at a blank screen or map, unless stated otherwise, it is assumed that North is located at the top of the page, East is located to the right, South is located at the bottom of the screen and West is located to the left. See the compass rose and other examples on the attached Google Doc.

Your goal is to use the following early American civilizations: Cahokia, Anasazi, Hohokam, Olmec, Moche, and Zapotec and create four different travel plans using two of the early civilizations for each trip. For example, if I wanted to travel from Cahokia to the Anasazis, you would write: If I started at Cahokia, I must travel Southwest until I reach the Anasazi location. You can not use that example, but must combine the early civilizations above to come up with proper directions to travel. Use your maps and insert a compass rose on your Google Doc. Then write your four examples of how you would travel from one early American civilization to another. You can only use a particular civilization twice in your examples. (You can not start with the Anasazis for all four examples).

If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].

Please turn this in by 3:00 pm.

Have a super, terrific and fantastic day!

Due:
