MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020--RELIGION E-LEARNING DAY 1 in Google Classroom

MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020--RELIGION E-LEARNING DAY 1

HELLO 6TH GRADE and welcome to your first day of E-Learning. A few things before we begin:
1. I wanted to tell each of you how well you did at Mass on Friday. Great job with leading the school in a beautiful liturgy. Nice job to all greeters, readers, and gift presenters. Also, we've received so many wonderful compliments on our video, so congrats to all!!!
2. This public health emergency is forcing us to find new ways to do things. Comment below if you had a chance to see Mass at SFS streaming live? If so, what did you think of it? If not, try to tune in next week. It's so easy. Anyone can partake!!!

For today:
Watch the video below (It's in Italian, but it has subtitles), and then write a journal entry in the back of your notebook that expresses things you've heard recently about people helping during this medical emergency. There are so many stories going around right now related to our current health situation. So many concerns, but also so many people doing things to help address the crisis and make life better. Write about one of the stories you've heard about. An example might be something you've heard about hospital workers, scientists, what the government is doing to help. Even a story like Italians singing on their balcony (have you heard that one?) can be ways of helping. Write at least a page that includes:
1. One or more examples you have heard about people helping during this coronavirus challenge.
2. Three ways that you can be a helper. If you have trouble with this, refer to the video. The little boy gives 5 examples of what kids can do to help.
3. Include a prayer for victims of corona virus as well as people who are helping. Then below your writing, or on the next page, draw and color a picture to go along with it. Take a picture of your journal entry and picture and attach it here.
DUE TUESDAY, MARCH 17 (tomorrow) BY 12:00 p.m.

When you are finished with your journal entry, spend 15 minutes on FreeRice to earn some rice for hungry people.
Comment below with questions, and I will help.

MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2020--6TH GRADE RELIGION ASSIGNMENT in Google Classroom

MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2020--6TH GRADE RELIGION ASSIGNMENT

VIRTUAL STATIONS OF THE CROSS Instructions

Make sure to have your religion notebook and a pen handy.
Go on to the link below and access the Virtual Stations of the Cross. The Busted Halo link wasn't working this a.m., but you can find all the stations on Youtube. Search Youtube for BUSTED HALO VIRTUAL STATIONS OF THE CROSS. I have linked Station 2 here for you from Youtube if the Busted Halo link does not work.

This is a prayer activity. That means you are praying while you are doing it. Find a quiet place to reflect. You can do this activity by yourself or you can invite family members to watch and reflect with you. It is a great Holy Week activity. Each station only takes a few minutes to watch and a few minutes to reflect on.

Pray by watching each station and writing prayer/reflections after each station. Pause the video after each station and do the following in your religion notebook:

FIRST WRITE THE STATION NUMBER. Then for each station:
1. Write a topic/question brought up by the video that is relevant to you personally or to today’s world. Consider both words and images when you decide what to focus on.
2. Write a 2-3 sentence response to the topic/question in the form of a reflection/prayer. Some possible things to include:
• An important question/something the video makes you wonder about
• An observation about Jesus/God/the world
• Words of praise
• Words of sorrow
• Petition for help
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THE STATIONS ASSIGNED TO YOU FOR THE DAY, then take a picture of your notebook page every day and turn it in. I will create a turn in every day for you.

HERE'S A SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK:
Monday, April 6--Stations 1-4 We began these together. Finish them. (Due by Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.) TURN IN MONDAY'S STATIONS (1-4) HERE.
Tuesday, April 7--Stations 5-8 (Due by Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.--I WILL CREATE A TURN IN)
Wednesday, April 8--Stations 9-11 (Due by Thursday, 8:00 a.m.--I WILL CREATE A TURN IN)
Thursday, April 9--Stations 12-14: (Due by Thursday, 3:00 p.m.--I WILL CREATE A TURN IN)

Make your words meaningful. Remember, the act of doing this is prayer. Every word you choose is offered up to God. So choose the best words for Him.

Don't forget that this is Holy Week. Important days are the Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Try to participate one of the Virtual Services that SFS will have available to you via Youtube or Facebook.
