Welcome to Visual Arts!

Welcome to the St. Francis de Sales Art Program. In this class, students create art from direct observation, imagination, and personal experience.  While we will look at artists and art movements, our focus will be on using the creative process to develop the social and emotional skills essential to success in the school environment: teamwork, independence, sharing, creativity and problem-solving. We hope to involve our students in school and community events, including an exhibition of student artwork at the ELA Public Library in May 2023. For more information about what we are doing at a specific grade level, please have your student show you our Google Classroom page (you can only access this site when logged into a school email account).  If you have questions, you can always contact me directly at [email protected].

If you or your student need help with an arts assignment, I will be happy to schedule a Google Classroom meeting.  The subject of the meeting is dependent on need -  a question about a project, help understanding a technique, a chat about art or grading questions.

To schedule a meeting time please email me at [email protected] stating WHAT YOU NEED TO DISCUSS and THREE DIFFERENT MEETING TIMES (in order of preference).  Please give me at least 12 hours notice. I will respond confirming the SCHEDULED TIME and with a link to Google Meets.  If for some reason none of the requested times are not available, I will reply with alternatives.

If you have questions or concerns, please let me know!  Thank you.
We have two Art Clubs at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School.
The club for grades 3-5 is offered on Thursdays.  Club starts at dismissal and will end around 3 PM.  Students can be picked up in the front parking lot. While regular attendance is not mandatory, please let me know of your students' intent to participate so I can plan accordingly.  You can notify me by email or your student can tell me.
Service Art & Yearbook is offered for students in grades 6-8.  We will meet every Monday.  In addition to planning and designing the Yearbook, students will have the opportunity to create Community-based art projects and design sets and props for the spring musical.  Students will be released from this club at approximately 3:15, and can also be picked up in the front parking lot.
Students not picked up by 3:30 PM  (from either club) will be sent to Aftercare.
